Course Description

Shoot Safe Fun Shoot: For all shooting enthusiast. In this occassional event, Shoot Safe invites families, groups, individuals and friends to have a fun day of shooting.

Range safety officers and certified instructors will be available to ensure safe shooting activity and to assist everyone needing instructions, tips, or advice.

Various guns available for test firing. Some ammo provided.

This event is for having Lot's of fun!


Welcome Boy Scout Troop

Firearms allowed for this event:

  • Pistols
  • Pistol Caliber Rifles
  • Shotguns
  • Carbines .223 and 7.62x39

Lunch: Hotdogs and burgers

Cost: $80.00 (Range fee included)

Items to Bring:

  • Water / Drinks
  • Eye and ear protection (If you don't have one, one will be provided)
  • Firearm
    • Appropriate firearms:
      • Pistols
      • Pistol Caliber Rifles
      • Shotguns
      • Carbine may be allowed in some events
    • Rental guns available
      • Guns are provided by Shoot Safe Learning and guests
      • Use of guns are free of charge
      • Ammunition may be purchased at the range
      • Bulk ammunition may be available

Reminder:

  • Wear closed toe shoes
  • Avoid low cut shirts
  • No military style / Rambo look-alike costumes

Registration/Parking/Miscellaneous

  • All participants, including instructors, volunteers and guests, must check in with the office.
  • No fees will be collected by the office.
  • Park away from the road perpendicular to the range.
  • Ammo and extra targets may be purchased at the range using cash or
  • credit/debit card.
  • All paid participants will have a wristband throughout the event.
  • Participants are allowed to use other ranges open to public within the shooting park. Shoot Safe range safety officers/instructors may not accompany you to other ranges. All range rules apply.

Payments

  • Payment for the Fun Shoot may be made via cash or check at the event on the range. No credit/debit cards.
  • Online registration is requested.
  • You may use online payment for your convenience.
  • $80.00 fee includes:
    • Range fee
    • Use of firearms
    • Some ammunition
    • Some targets
    • Use of eye and ear protection
    • Lunch - Hotdogs / burgers + drinks

Event Ceremonies

  • 8:30 am - Registration / Check-in
  • 9:30 am - Safety Briefing / Shooting
  • 10:00 am Opening ceremony
  • 12:00 noon - Lunch
    • 12:00 noon - Lunch break
    • No shooting between 12:00 pm and 1:00 pm
  • 3:30 pm - Event conclusion

 

Safety Rules

  1. ALL GUNS ARE ALWAYS LOADED - TREAT THEM A SUCH
  2. Always keep the gun pointed downrange
  3. Keep your finger off the trigger until ready to shoot
  4. Know your target and what's beyond it
  5. Keep guns unloaded until ready to use

Firearms/Ammunition Brought Into The Event Must Be:

  • Checked-in prior to shooting
  • Good working condition
  • Legal to use under federal, state and local laws

What Is Not Allowed

  • Unregistered “Assault Weapon” under California law
  • Black powder guns
  • Steel core/shots, incendiary, tracer, armor piercing ammunition
  • Any firearm/ammunition deemed unsafe, unacceptable for any reason by Shoot Safe Learning/A Place To Shoot and their instructors, range safety officers, staff, employees and volunteers.

Bringing Firearms To and From the Firing Line

  • ALL GUNS MUST BE UNLOADED UNTIL IN THE FIRING LINE
  • Long guns must be unloaded, action open, pointed upward, finger off the trigger
  • Pistols must be unloaded, magazine out, pointed down, finger off the trigger

Or

  • Bring the bag/case to the bench/table

Range Rules

  • Eye Protection and Ear Protection must be used at all time.
  • Obey Range Safety Officers/Instructors at all time. Range Safety
  • Officers/Instructors are identified with an official badge.
  • Cold Range - No loaded guns away from the firing line.
  • No gun handling away from the firing line.
  • Steel targets may only be shot with pistol caliber rounds .45 caliber or less, non-magnum
  • Lanes and firearms are limited. Shooters may stay in the lane as long as they want but sharing lanes/guns to other participants when the range is full is encouraged.
  • Taking photos/videos are fine. However, please exercise consideration when sharing them on social media if other people are in the picture.

Changing Targets

  • No shooter may cross the firing line when live fire is in progress.
  • Cease Fire will be called to change/tape targets
    • All firearms must be placed on safe, placed carefully on the bench/table pointed down range
    • Pistols may be holstered with safety on or de-cocked
    • All shooters must step away from the table beyond the
    • reach of all firearms
    • Shooters will be given time to change their targets

Holster Rules

  • Holsters are allowed
  • Only gun specific/properly fitted holsters may be used
  • Proper draw technique must be practiced or holster privilege will be revoked
  • No holstered firearms allowed outside of Range 1
  • Holstered pistols may only be drawn in the firing line
